Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach

Our Mission:

Crisis Assistance

Helping Hand is a short-term crisis and referral agency which seeks to address the needs of our community not met by other existing institutions. Our mission is to assist individuals and families with immediate, short-term needs such as food, rent, utilities, and other specialized services, which if not met, would threaten an individual’s or family’s stability. By providing these services Helping Hand seeks to prevent those in need of basic services from falling into homelessness.

Our History

47+

Years Serving Myrtle Beach

Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach has faithfully served the City of Myrtle Beach for over 47 years.

Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach was organized in 1971 by the First United Methodist Church as an outreach ministry for teen-age visitors to the beach. In 1975, First Presbyterian Church joined in the venture and in 1976 Helping Hand was incorporated. At that time, the service was extended to include transients of all ages and locals who needed short-term assistance. Many other local churches have joined in the mission at Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach.

Our current client base includes transients and locals who need short-term assistance through intervention and referrals; especially those working in seasonal, hourly jobs, and those on fixed incomes, such as the elderly and the disabled.

Get Involved

Funds donated help our neighbors with rent, utilities, and other approved needs. Without the wonderful support of our community many families in need would be left without electricity, water, and would face eviction without our assistance.

For information on how you or your Church or organization can help or donate, stop in or write us. Checks should be mailed to the following address: PO Box 2886, Myrtle Beach, 29578.

Volunteer opportunities
